AstroBuruj — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 June 2026

AstroBuruj (“the app”, “we”) is an offline-first astronomy and Islamic-astronomy app for the night sky. This policy explains what data the app processes and why. We designed AstroBuruj to keep your data on your device wherever possible.

1. Data processed on your device only

2. Data collected by third-party services

The app includes Firebase Crashlytics (crash & diagnostics) to keep the app reliable: when the app crashes or logs a non-fatal error, it sends a crash report — stack trace, device model, operating-system version, and app version — to Google so we can fix bugs. The app uses no advertising or analytics SDKs.

This data is processed by Google as our service provider, under Google’s privacy terms. We do not receive your name, email, or location through this service.

3. Content the app fetches

The app retrieves read-only public content — officially declared Hijri dates, regional crescent-sighting reports, and nightly sky highlights — from our server (api.astroburuj.com) over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. These requests do not include your identity or your location.

4. What we do NOT do

5. Data retention & your choices

On-device data (settings, cached content) remains until you clear the app’s data or uninstall it. Crash-report data is retained by Google per their retention policies. You can revoke location permission at any time in system settings.

6. Children

AstroBuruj is a general-audience reference app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Security

All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS. On-device data is stored in the app’s private storage.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
